Platform / Vehicle Inspections
DVIR shouldn’t require a separate app, a separate login, a separate vendor — or a separate line item. S.A.F.E. puts the full inspection lifecycle in the driver portal, included with SAFE Core: pre-trip, post-trip, in-trip, and trailer connection inspections, from the driver’s walkthrough to the mechanic’s sign-off.
Most inspection apps make every driver answer every question every time. S.A.F.E. inspections adapt as the driver goes: fail “any trailer damage?” and a full damage-documentation section opens up — photos required, defect details captured. Pass it, and the driver never sees those questions.
When something fails, the driver picks from defects your templates define — “cracked windshield,” “tread below 4/32” — instead of typing a guess. Each defect carries its own severity and its own photo requirement.
And when it’s serious enough: immediate out-of-service enforcement. The driver is told on the spot that the vehicle is grounded, in the words you configured.
A defect flagged on Monday’s pre-trip doesn’t disappear by Tuesday. Before starting a new pre-trip, the driver is shown every open defect on that vehicle and attests to each one:
A worsened defect spawns a new linked record, so the history reads as one continuous story. And resolution is certified, not assumed — corrected or no-correction-needed, with the mechanic’s certification, comments, and name on the record, including outside mechanics who aren’t system users.
Turn vehicle inspections on and every vehicle has a sensible inspection immediately — platform defaults by vehicle and inspection type, no setup required.
Encode policy as rules — all 2019-and-newer tractors get this template — applied retroactively in one click.
Pin a specific template to a specific vehicle when one unit needs its own. Pins survive rule changes.
When an inspection starts, the platform snapshots exactly what the driver saw — so the record stays faithful even if the template changes next month. Every inspection carries the driver’s certification, drawn signature, and odometer; every prior-defect review is a discrete signed record; every defect carries its full observation history of who saw it, when, and in what state. The complete report — responses, defects, photos, signatures, reviews — exports to PDF.
That’s the difference between an inspection program and a stack of checked boxes: when an auditor or an adjuster asks what the driver saw and what happened next, the answer is a document, not a reconstruction.
Fleets paying a separate DVIR vendor are maintaining another app, another login, and another invoice for something their safety platform should simply include. With S.A.F.E., it does: vehicle inspections ship inside SAFE Core — not an add-on, not another per-truck fee. For fleets still on paper, this is the move to digital without adding a vendor; for fleets paying for one, it’s a subscription you cancel.
Adding inspections to their daily workflow doesn’t require a new app, a new process, or a new invoice — just turning it on.
